Phnom Penh, Cambodia — The CAMWATER 2025 exhibition and conference has officially opened, marking a major step toward strengthening Cambodia’s climate resilience and water security. Held from October 14–16, 2025, at the Diamond Island Convention & Exhibition Centre (DICEC), the event gathers government officials, industry leaders, and global innovators to explore sustainable water solutions amid growing climate challenges.

Co-hosted by the Cambodian Water Supply Association (CWA) and supported by the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI), the event is themed “Working Together to Reach CSDG 2030 in the Context of Climate Change.” The goal is clear: to accelerate progress toward Cambodia’s Sustainable Development Goals while addressing the country’s increasing vulnerability to water-related climate impacts.

The opening ceremony drew representatives from five key ministries, alongside more than 6,000 visitors and 20 international exhibitors from over ten countries. Over the three days, participants are engaging in both conference sessions and exhibitions designed to foster dialogue, policy reform, and the exchange of innovative technologies for water and wastewater management.

In his keynote address, H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of MISTI, emphasized Cambodia’s commitment to a collaborative approach between government, utilities, and private sector partners to achieve a climate-resilient water sector. The first plenary session, titled “Working Together to Deal with Climate Change for Sustainable Water Supply,” featured senior representatives from ministries responsible for water resources, rural development, public works, and energy.

Regional cooperation was also a key focus. Water associations from Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines shared case studies on infrastructure financing, capacity building, and operational innovation, showcasing Southeast Asia’s shared vision for sustainable water systems. Leading technology providers, including ABB and METAWATER, presented advanced monitoring and treatment systems, as well as green financing models to support future investments.

More than just an industry event, CAMWATER 2025 serves as a strategic platform for translating Cambodia’s C-SDGs (Cambodian Sustainable Development Goals) into tangible actions. By promoting stronger partnerships, innovation, and capacity development, the event highlights how collaboration can drive real progress in water governance and climate adaptation.

As Cambodia continues to face growing pressure from rising temperatures and unpredictable rainfall, initiatives like CAMWATER 2025 demonstrate the country’s determination to turn challenges into opportunities—ensuring safe, sustainable, and climate-resilient water systems for generations to come.
